From the great universities of Cairo to the fountains and caravanserais of Al-Andalus, it was the awqāf that sustained learning, service, and culture across generations. This system allowed communities to thrive independently from the fluctuations of politics or the fragility of donations.

Mustafa Centre will establish a cash-based waqf fund to secure long-term independence and sustainability. The hallmark of the waqf mechanism is that it is both permanent and irreversible, meaning your investment carries on generation after generation without being sold, transferred or inherited.

Strong Foundations

We do not want to build Mustafa Centre on donations or appeals, locking ourself and our resources into endless cycles of fundraising, donor relations, and sponsorships. Our independence and permanence rest on the waqf engine: a commercial space generating a steady income that sustains the Centre for generations.

This financial model is disciplined, transparent, and self-renewing. Landlord rent is prepaid for three years from the fund, insulating the Centre from shocks. Every dollar collected thereafter flows through a clear structure that protects the fund while creating operational income. It is a slower approach, but one that will ensure consistency and stability in the services we provide, and the programs we run, only growing in proportion to the cash flow generated by the assets owned by the waqf.
