Intentions
(Niyāt)
We will provide a dedicated centre for English-speaking Muslims to connect, learn, and grow in an environment that nurtures spiritual, professional, and social development. As a result, individuals will be empowered to strengthen their faith, expand their knowledge, and contribute positively to the Muslim community, guided by the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah.
We will uphold Knowledge, Faith, and Love as the foundations of all our actions. So that we foster an environment where these qualities flourish, uniting our community through shared growth and support.
We commit to Rooted Spirituality by nurturing genuine faith connected to a living tradition. We uphold Sound Scholarship by adhering to the mainstream Sunni understandings of Islam. We foster Community Ownership by encouraging collective responsibility and shared leadership. We practice Prophetic Compassion, welcoming all backgrounds and walks of life. We ensure Sacred Continuity by maintaining a waqf that supports our long-term goals.
“We will uphold knowledge, faith, and love as the foundation of all our actions. So we foster an environment where these qualities flourish, uniting our community through shared growth and support.”
PURPOSE
AUDIENCE
English-speaking residents of Bahria Town with a focus on youth and young adults who are actively seeking authentic spaces to freely learn and grow. Though the centre will be open to all, the intention for community impact will remain local, prioritizing neighbours and residents on the basis of proximity and prophetic guidance.
SPACE
A welcoming “third space” — distinct from home, and Masjid — that is open to all, providing an inclusive environment firmly rooted in Islamic principles and values.
“When the best of us step up, as a nation we stand a little taller”
The Ḥadīth of Jibrīl captures the essence of a complete Muslim life through Islam, Iman, and Ihsan—outward practice, inner faith, and spiritual excellence. Our values of Knowledge, Faith, and Love reflect this holistic framework, guiding our community’s growth and connection.
VALUES
KNOWLEDGE
Rooted in Islam, knowledge represents the outward actions and understanding of the faith. It empowers individuals to learn and practice the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah with clarity and purpose. This commitment to learning forms the foundation for sincere worship.
FAITH
Faith reflects Iman—the deep, unwavering belief in Allah ﷻ and His guidance. It nurtures a sincere connection with the Divine that strengthens the heart and motivates ethical conduct. Through faith, we cultivate trust, patience, and resilience in our daily lives.
LOVE
Our path is rooted in love (maḥabbah) for Allah ﷻ and His Messenger Muḥammad ﷺ, whose character we strive to reflect in every interaction. This love is the heart of iḥsān—beautifying our worship, refining our conduct, and deepening our sincerity.
PRINCIPLES
ROOTED SPIRITUALITY
We will commit to nurturing genuine faith that is connected to a living and continuous tradition of spiritual excellence. While we welcome and honour the diversity of authentic Sufi paths (ṭarīqahs) within Islam, our centre is rooted in the Baʿalawī ṭarīqah—known for its balance, gentleness, and deep concern for sincerity and service. This tradition emphasizes inner purification, love for the Prophet ﷺ, and embodying the Prophetic character in daily life. It ensures that our spiritual practice is not improvised or disconnected, but guided by a lived path shaped by centuries of righteous scholars and seekers.
SOUND SCHOLARSHIP
Our foundation is built on adherence to the mainstream Sunni tradition, which honours the four recognized madhāhib of fiqh and the three established schools of ʿaqīdah. While we remain open to teaching and benefiting from all of these traditions, our centre operates in accordance with the Mālikī madhhab in jurisprudence and the Ashʿarī school in theology. Our approach is grounded in sound knowledge passed down through unbroken chains of transmission (sanad), ensuring that what we share is both authentic and rooted in generations of trusted scholarship. This principle fosters clarity, depth, and consistency in our understanding and application of Islam.
COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP
We will foster shared leadership and collective care rooted in the Mālikī emphasis on public welfare (maṣlaḥah) and the Baʿalawī tradition of sincere service (khidmah). By promoting shared leadership and service within our members, inspired by Prophetic generosity, we will create a space where giving back is part of our collective purpose and trust.
PROPHETIC COMPASSION
Our centre will be a sanctuary where mercy guides our interactions. We will create a holy space for the unholy—a third space where every soul, regardless of their past or background, feels safe and welcomed. Here, the sacred law remains unchanged, yet mercy, compassion (raḥmah), and dignity guide our community, embodying the spirit of “Come as you are to Islam as it is.”
SACRED CONTINUITY
We will establish and maintain a waqf, drawing on centuries of Islamic tradition that have utilized this model to support learning, worship, and the welfare of the Muslim community. Our waqf will allow the centre to function independently, ensuring access and benefit for all without dependence on unstable funding. This foundation will be used to support both the internal needs of the centre and the outward needs of the broader community, prioritizing mercy, justice, and service. In doing so, we revive a sacred tradition of social care rooted in worship and responsibility.
